Release tension and improve digestion
The abdomen is a place where many of us hold subconscious tension. Practising this pose can allow repressed emotions to move and release. It will also improve digestion (things will move, you’ve been warned!) and create space in the lower back. Lying face down can also help bring a sense of calm and grounding.
Roll up a blanket or towel and place it in the middle of a yoga mat or the ground
Gently lower your body so the roll is on the soft area of your abdomen, between the bottom ribs and hip bones.
Place your hands on top of one another and bring your head to rest on them.
Now breathe deeply into your belly and notice the sensations
It’s likely to feel uncomfortable to begin with but see if you can relax into the intensity
Start by holding the pose for 1-2 mins and gradually build up the time
