Listening to the heart
When you experience conflict with someone try this technique to bring some ease back into your relationship.
When you feel heady or anxious, first just NOTICE and acknowledge it. Don’t try to analyse or fix it.
Then take a few deep breaths and SHIFT your awareness from your stormy mind to the centre of your chest (placing your hands at the heart centre release oxytocin, the love hormone) and continue to breathe into the area.
After a while notice if the thoughts or feelings have reduced in intensity and then LISTEN and tune into the wisdom of your heart. What is it trying to share with you? It could be a faint or strong message. And if it’s faint keep listening. If nothing comes then maybe it’s a message to tell you to wait.
When we detach like this it means that we don’t go further into our pain. We create space so that we can respond from our true nature and not react from our wounds.
